Laura H. Carnell Elementary Literacy Murals – Philadelphia
Walls for Justice partnered with Laura H. Carnell Elementary School to design and create ten literacy-based murals throughout the school, transforming hallways and learning spaces into vibrant educational environments.
Each mural was created to support reading and language development while making the school more welcoming and engaging for students. The designs incorporated literacy themes and included multiple languages to reflect the diversity of the school community and promote inclusion for multilingual learners and families.
By integrating art with education, the project helped reinforce learning in everyday spaces while creating a sense of pride and belonging for students and staff. The murals serve as lasting visual resources that support literacy while celebrating the cultural diversity of the Carnell Elementary community.
This project reflects Walls for Justice’s commitment to supporting schools through creative projects that combine education, inclusion, and community engagement.
