Help Us Transform Recess at St. Malachy School

St. Malachy is looking to partner with Walls for Justice to transform its outdoor asphalt space into a colorful, interactive environment designed specifically for students Inspired by classic chalk recess games, the project would turn the schoolyard into a permanent outdoor activity space filled with creative games, movement paths, hopscotch, educational activities, colorful shapes, and other interactive artwork students can enjoy during recess and outdoor breaks.

This project is about more than adding color to the ground.

It is about creating a space that encourages students to move, play, imagine, socialize, and engage with one another in positive ways. The artwork can also incorporate numbers, letters, problem-solving activities, school values, and other educational elements—allowing learning and creativity to continue outside of the classroom.

Our goal is to raise approximately $25,000 to help bring this vision to life.

Funding will help support:

• Professional design and planning • Durable outdoor/asphalt paint and materials • Artists and installation support • Surface preparation and cleaning • Interactive recess game elements • Community and student participation opportunities • Long-term protection and finishing of the artwork

With enough support, an ordinary asphalt schoolyard can become an outdoor classroom, playground, and creative space students can enjoy every day.

Every donation helps us move one step closer to making this project possible.

Whether you give $25, $100, $500, sponsor a section of the playground, or help us connect with a larger community partner, your support can make a lasting impact.

Help Walls for Justice and St. Malachy turn the blacktop into a place for play, learning, movement, and imagination.

Help us put more color—and more opportunities to play—under their feet.
